Clinton lauds Pakistanis’ sacrifices in counterterrorism
This Hillary Clinton said talking to media after her arrival here in Pakistan on three-day official visit.
According to sources, she said, “My visit is aimed at sending message of all-out support for Pakistani government from Obama administration”.
She also commended Pakistan army’s ongoing operation against Taliban in tribal South Waziristan Agency (SWA), applauding the joint resolve of Pakistan’s civil and military leadership to combat terrorism in restive Waziristan Agency.
“I will seek complete information relating to army operation in SWA during my stay here in Islamabad and will assure Pakistan government of Obama administration’s all-out support in all sectors including military offensive in tribal areas, Afghan war and on economy”, she told reporters
Clinton said she was keen to bolster the civilian government, whose relations with the powerful military have been fraught, following on from a massive 7.5 bilion dollar non-military aid package already signed into law.
"We will be making some announcements about some of the investments we are making with Pakistan on the civilian side," she added.
