Composite dialogue: Ball is in Indian court now
Giving interview to a British news agency, Shahid Malik said: “It takes two to tango … we are done making every possible effort (for resumption of dialogue).”
“India should also take a step that reflects its desire to improve bilateral relations,” he asserted.
He said both the countries had agreed that dialogue is the only way forward in improving relations in the joint statement released in Sharm Al-Sheikh.
Regarding the halt in Indo-Pak dialogue following Mumbai attacks, the High Commissioner said Pakistan will not be affected by any pressure.
To a question regarding insurgency, he said Pakistan and Afghanistan should not be looked at with the same perspective. We do not like it when both countries are seen through same glass, he added.
He clarified that the nature of difficulties in Afghanistan is totally different from that of Pakistan. However, it is a fact that Pakistan is directly affected by the problems in Afghanistan, he added.
