PESHAWAR: At least one person was killed and several others sustained injuries when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a religious procession, which was celebrating Eid Miladun Nabi (SAWW) here in Dera Ismail Khan (DIK) late on Saturday night, Geo news reported.

Dr. Qutbuddin Khan, who works at a local hospital, released the information on deaths on late Saturday.

Police official Bashar Khan said, following the attack, the participants of the procession attacked a mosque, triggering a clash between two religious sects, resulting in the deaths of three more people.

The police official said some 26 more suffered wounds, and troops have imposed a curfew in the area. He added it was not clear who had attacked the procession.

The procession was marking Eid Mliadun Nabi (SAWW), the anniversary of the birth of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohammed (PBUH).
