HYDERABAD: In protest against the orders issued by the head of state President Asif Ali Zardari in relation to remission in sentences granted to some specific prisoners in separate parts of country, the inmates in Hyderabad’s Central Jail Saturday staged protest by lighting fire after having climbed over the rooftops of prison’s barracks, Geo news reported.

According to Central Jail Administration, prisoners got on top of the barracks and put clothes on fire, while chanting slogans against jail administration.

They expressed anger against remission in sentences granted to some specific prisoners by President Asif Ali Zardari, highlighting that president’s orders will only serve those prisoners jailed in drugs charges and involved in NAB cases.

No general prisoners will be benefited by announced remission, the insisted.

They also appealed to President Zardari and Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry for grant of remission in their sentences.
