Police opened fire in self-defense: IG

 Police
opened fire in self-defense: IG ABBOTABAD: The police had to open fire in self-defense as the protestors had stormed the police stations and vans, Inspector General of NWFP Police Malik Naveed Khan said Tuesday.

Speaking to Geo on his arrival in Abbotabad to review the law and order situation, Khan said that six police were injured by the mob.

“Today, police force is in defensive position and only local police men are performing their duties in Abbotabad,” he said.

The IGP said that the Frontier Constabulary was still not deployed in the lawless area.

Meanwhile, he appealed to people to maintain peace and don’t take law into their hands.

It may be reminded nine people were killed and dozens other wounded after police opened direct fire on the protestors in Abbotabad.
