SSP had links with TTP, al-Qaeda: Malik
RAWALPINDI: Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Monday that proscribed Sipah Sahaba Pakistan had links with Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and al-Qaeda in the past.
Speaking to reporters after appearing before the court in Faisalabad, he said that strict action would be taken against the TTP if it was found involved in the Faisalabad incidents.
Some miscreant elements want to destabilize the country, he said, adding that the government would foil their (enemies) nefarious designs.
Malik said that the government was carrying out investigation from the arrested miscreants so that it could identify the people backing and financing such elements.
The interior minister claimed that a conspiracy to stoke clashes among Ulema was thwarted after his meeting with leading religious clerics.
