SC can strike down 18th Amend: Akram

 ISLAMABAD: Advocate Akram Shiekh has said that the Supreme Court can not only suspend any amendment but also it can set-aside it. Aitzaz had been arguing against the freedom of judiciary in Ahsan Al jehad case, he said.Sheikh further said the Supreme Court has the authority to suspend an amendment. Akram had filed a petition on behalf of Nadeem Ahmed in the SC challenging the establishment of the judicial commission. Akram criticized Ahsan for supporting Asif Zardari and working against the freedom of judiciary. Ahsan has only done one good i.e counseling Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. The SC had struck down 13th and 14th Amendment in the past, he said. |
